Bayer HealthCare Donates to Community Food Bank of New Jersey
Donations Will Help Many Families in Need This Holiday Season
Wayne and Morristown, NJ, December 10, 2009, Bayer HealthCare Pharmaceuticals (BHCP) has donated over 1,100 pounds of food to the Community FoodBank of New Jersey through a company food drive. In addition, Bayer will provide a $20,000 monetary donation to the Community FoodBank.
This is the second year that Bayer has partnered with the Community FoodBank to help meet the increasing demand for food to help local families in need. The food drive took place in November at the Morristown, Wayne, Montville and Fairfield sites. The contributions will help the Community FoodBank to serve a network of over 1,600 hunger-relief agencies in 18 of the 21 counties in New Jersey. In addition, Bayer Consumer Care donated more than 350 pounds of food, $3,500 and 6,000 art kits for children.
“Each month the pantries and soup kitchens report increasing numbers of people seeking help. I have never experienced a time like this in over 30 years of helping the poor and the hungry in NJ. We are so deeply grateful to Bayer and its employees for helping us respond to the growing need,” said Kathleen DiChiara, president and CEO of the Community FoodBank.
The Community FoodBank provides direct partner agency support to agencies located within their service area which includes the following counties: Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Middlesex, Morris, Passaic, Somerset, and Union. In total, the Community FoodBank serves 18 of New Jersey’s 21 counties through the headquarters in Hillside, Southern Branch, and three Partner Distribution Organizations servicing nearly 86% of the state. The Community FoodBank is a member of Feeding America, the Nation’s Food Bank Network. Food banks across the United States belong to this network.
